Monstrous Madness
Andy's running a fun voting bracket on D&D monsters: Monstrous Madness. Yesterday, the kobold made a good showing against the mind flayer, but lost to the illithid.

(Im affraid that im posting this in vain beacause you have some mega filter to block people from commenting beacause there are no posts here in your LJ!)

Im not quite sure what the final battle between the red dragon and beholder. Im assumeing it was a battle for the scarriest or most feirce. Im affraid my money would have been on the mind flayer I'm a little biased though as my current most active PC is a Mind Flayer Artificer named Oubliette (Im sure you know what that is but if you don't look it up it's a really cool thing...or ask me;) who has a few ranks in Knowledge (Forbidden Lore) "She" was to be one of the loretakers of Oryndoll but she finds the elder brain repulsive so now she is in the form (and roll) of the second daughter of a specific drow house. The true daughter failed an assasination attempt on the matron so she decided beacause her house lacks powerfull females it would be best to replace her daughter rather then eliminate her publically.
Anyway i'm sure you have ALOT better things to do then read about my D&D characters. I do however have a few things ive been wanting to say to you for a long time; The work you do for WOTC (and the few side projects that I know of) is amazing I have been playing for many years and never paid much attention to the names behind the books but I usually looked at the credits to see who the artists for the books were. Well alot of names have gone in one eye and out the other but I think yours originally stood out the most beacause you were female and thats when I started noticeing that all of my faveroite books had your name in them somewhere. Then I noticed you were a co-writer for my faveroite monthly article on the wizards site so I quickly became a fan. I am interested in what degrees you have and where did you get them. I know from my very limited knowledge of philosophy that a degree in that would deffinatly heighten your ability to write the books you do. The creativity, intelligence and passion you must have is very impressive. (Nearly freaks my mother out on how complex some of this is.)
Ok, I must admit I've been wanting to contact you for some time but it took a bit of a selfish motive to finally do it...ELVES AND FEY I MUST HAVE MORE!!! *cackles insanly* Well not entirely that im just curious if we will ever get stats for the seelie and unseelie courts? The manual of the planes says simply half-celectial and half-fiend elves but I would imagine they would be very different from that (it doesn't even say if they are fey or outsider!)
None the less I have other questions too but I think ive said enough for now, as you can see I have a LJ as well and my yahoo e-mail is altima666@yahoo.com if youd rather contact me privately. (assumeing youd want to contact me at all) I look very forward to hearing from you and seeing what things you will grace us with next.
Celine Virago

P.S: I am very aware of spell check that LJ has but it tends to cause my messages to not get posted or some weird error to happen so do excuse the spelling errors. (I can't belive an editor could possibly look at my grammar with a straight face :P)

The lack of posts is likely from my lack of promotion. Glad you happened upon the site!

The red dragon won easily. http://www.andycollins.net/Features/madness.htm

Your mind flayer sound very cool. I agree that Oubliette is a superbly accurate name. Artificer? As in the new class in a not-yet-published book or some other? Either way, it seems like you've invested a good amount of thought in your character (and have the discretion to keep your comments brief to maintain interest).

I'm flattered that you've noted my name and like the Fey Feature. When I started publishing in the gaming industry, I took some time to consider the issue of gender. There just aren't many females in game design. I toyed with the idea of just using my initial, but then realized that it was important to me to show my gender. I'm convinced that if one wants to attract more females to gaming, it's very important (essential, even) to have strong female characters in the text and also to have female authors to show that women aren't just gaming, they're also shaping the game.

My academic background is given in greater detail at http://www.gwendolynkestrel.com/Student.htm, but in brief, I've a B.A. in English, an M.A. in English, and an M.B.A. I love learning. While I often take a class or acquire a skill that doesn't have academic credit attached, I also like the focus and discipline of pursuing degrees and am currently seeking a Ph.D. in Education (Cognitive Studies a.k.a. how people think and learn).

I'm glad you wrote and sorry that it has taken me so long to respond.

Well, my printout is finished here at work, and I must return to my document. I'll write more on fey later.

Yes Artificer as in the ebberon campaign setting class (I like the way you asked without giving information I might not know away). I'll tell you how I got it some other time so I can remain a lady of mysteries (like a certiant D&D goddess we all know) It will give you a reason to look forward to another reply from me rather then put me in the catagory of a pest.
Actually Oubliette's desire to control is bringing her down the telepath/thrallherd class while she still focuses in item creation. To improve her item creation with psionic items she tries collecting as many power stones, dorjes and other things as she can.
I fell in love with the new psionic book as soon as I bought it. (I also with a friend bought Bruce Cordell's netbooks on psionics a while ago) I noticed your name is in the EPHB too! The fact that you do so much deffinatly gives you a very viable excuse for being alow in responding. If possible maby you can put books you have done a moderate-high ammount of work in on your website.
Finally one last question: Anytime I get more money i'm buying D&D books and my collection is way to big. How the hell do you keep your books neat, easily accessable, and organized!?

P.S. Forgive me for not reading the webpage of yours about your edjucation. I'll read more of your and your husband's website before asking any more questions that might be there.
